Yucca filamentosa (Adam's Needle/Bear Grass) Very drought tolerant. Looks like a small palm, but has characteristics of a perennial. Evergreen silver-green foliage is very attractive. In summer tall lush flower stalk appears from the center of the plant. Very showy. Drought tolerant.
2-3 ft; a cycad; the only host plant for the rare Atala butterfly; good ground cover for droughty sites; hardy to Zone 9; interesting cone-like fruit with large pink-orange seeds (which are poisonous, by the way). SIZE: One gallon.
