Viola canadensis Canadian White Violet or Canadian Violet is found native in much of the US in moist woodland areas. It can reach approximately 16 inches in height and form beautiful colonies covering forest floors. The blooms are actually edible and are usually white but sometimes have a tinge of purple or yellow. They are great for wildlife and host plants for the Meadow Fritillary and Atlantic Fritillary. Bees also love them.

They do best in rich moist soil in full shade. They like cooler climates but our stock here in north FL is thriving!
